T–4: Let's Take A Look at my "Home" and Edmonton

Today you get to see holiday photos of me, even before I have even started the journey. In this article, I would like to let pictures speak rather than words, which is why I have divided the impressions into several galleries. But a few basic info about Edmonton must be:

Capital of the province of Alberta

• Just over 1 million inhabitants

• Home of the Edmonton Oilers (NHL) and the Elks (football)

• Time difference: - 8 hours

Here are first impressions of Edmonton and its sights:

River Valley

The Saskatchewan River meanders through the city

I was particularly impressed, and I admit a bit overwhelmed, by the River Valley, which along the North Saskatchewan River is the largest connected park system in North America. With a length of 48 km, 11 lakes, 20 parks and 22 canyons, it is 22 times the size of Central Park in New York.

My Accommodation

My Airbnb apartment is located 2 km from the venue. Keep your fingers crossed that I can borrow a bike from somewhere. The proximity to the park will certainly not be a hindrance for my morning jogging rounds. : )
